Ki draws upon 26 seasons of coaching experience as the Director of Saddleback Volleyball Club. At the college level, Ki coached in the Orange Empire Conference at Orange Coast College and Irvine Valley College. As a head coach, Ki’s teams have won several championships in his 26 years of coaching. Ki’s staff has earned 15 Jr. Olympic medals for their girls teams while working at Saddleback. As an OC native Ki has trained several All-County players, Fab 50 players, High School All-Americans, players that have participated in the NCAA D1 Final Four, and players that have made the National Team. In all, Ki has helped place well over 200 athletes in four year volleyball programs. In addition to being the Director of SVVC, Ki was also PVL’s Executive Director and is currently the Director of SCVA.

Brenna Dougherty started playing for Saddleback for her 16s, 17s, and 18s club seasons. She then went on to play for San Francisco State University from 2017-2021. Brenna has been coaching for the last 5 years for Saddleback and Dana Hills High School. In her spare time, Brenna enjoys playing and competing in beach volleyball.

Travis Barr is entering his 6th year of coaching and his second year at Saddleback.  Coach Travis enjoys helping train a broad range of elementary and high school girls and boys athletes.  He focuses on teaching fundamental skills while incorporating technology to provide real-time feedback through detailed video analysis.   Coach Travis played at Dana Hills high school under the legendary coach Oz Simmons, where he was a FAB 50 national player.  He played his college career at Long Beach State 1992-96.  He was a NCAA freshman All-American, MPSF player of the week, Olympic Festival Gold Medal (1993) Olympic Festival Bronze Medal (1995) and top 5 all time dig average at Long Beach State 49ers.  Travis is married to Lynn and proud father to Riley and Rian Barr and their dog Scout.

Mike Bonner is entering his 25th year of coaching, and his forth year here at Saddleback. Coach Mike has previously coached both boys and girls at Epic Volleyball Club as well as Orange County Volleyball Club. Some coaching highlights include qualifying several teams for Junior Nationals, winning Volleyball Festival, medaling at Junior Nationals, winning a CIF championship at Westview High School and coaching the boys and girls teams at Newport Harbor High School. Coach Mike is an avid Wing Chun practitioner and is extremely involved in the Wing Chun Against Bullying Campaign!

Mark has been coaching both men’s and women’s volleyball for 11 years this season. He has worked with athletes ranging from 8-21 years old across multiple teams including collegiate athletes. He has 2 championships to his name, one National Championship at Concordia University Irvine, and one at Irvine Valley College. He is excited to be working with the 16-1’s this year and loves being in the gym with his team!

Coach Ryan is entering his fifth year of coaching and his third year at Saddleback. He played volleyball as a setter for eight years prior and during his coaching career. He also is currently at Cal State Fullerton working toward his teaching credential to teach high school English and continue coaching. He also coaches volleyball at Trabuco Hills High School. In his free time he is an avid rock climber and an aspiring author.

This is Monty’s 34th year coaching club volleyball, 26 at Saddleback Volleyball Club. He is currently the head coach at Crean Lutheran High School after coaching at El Toro, Mission Viejo, and University High Schools.  Monty has coached all age groups and is excited about working with Saddleback’s 15-1 team this year.  When Monty is not coaching he enjoys time at the beach and playing in coed leagues with his 24-year-old daughter, who played 7 years at Saddleback.

Coach Cass has played volleyball for over 12 years on high level teams as well as starting Varsity OH in high school, MVP freshman year and senior year. Outside of Saddleback, she is the freshman/sophomore girls volleyball coach. She fell in love with the sport when she was young and love watching more athletes fall in love with it. yours.

Coach Megan is entering her 6th season with club volleyball and her 2nd season at Saddleback. She has coached from ages 12-15 and it is her 3rd season with 15s. She is the JV coach at Mission Viejo High School. Megan is currently playing her senior season at Hope International University for the beach volleyball team.

Bio Coach Ralph Rivera is in his 18th season at Saddleback. He has coached the top teams at SVVC as young as 11's up to the 18's. He has helped lead teams to 3 national championships and 2 runner-up finishes. Coach Ralph got his start coaching girls volleyball at Trabuco Hills High School in 2005, and still coaches there to this day. In 2009 he was able to work with the University of Arizona's Women's Volleyball team for 3 seasons. He also received his B.A. in Elementary Education in 2012. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his 7-year-old son RJ, 3-year-old daughter Eliza, and wife Jessica, playing basketball, going golfing and eating Korean bbq.

Savannah Gilliland is entering into her 4th year of coaching. She has been a high school girls volleyball coach in Irvine California for the last 3 years coaching the entry level Frosh/Soph team for Portola High School. This is her first season coaching club volleyball. Her coaching philosophy is to promote an environment that both enhances her students athletic capabilities while also simply pursuing the joys of playing volleyball.

While not originally from Orange County, Coach Mike moved to Huntington Beach in 2016 and has made a big impact and built a reputation of developing highly competitive volleyball teams. Year after year Coach Sofley’s teams find themselves consistently in the top divisions of SCVA rankings. Recently, both of his Saddleback 16s and 18s teams medaled at national qualifiers and earned their bids for the Junior Nationals! Before moving to Orange County, Coach Mike spent time serving in the US Air Force! While enlisted, Mike represented the Air Force as captain and middle blocker on the All-Air Force Volleyball Team as well as outside hitter on the Armed Forces National Team. With his unique playing experience and passion for coaching, we are excited to see what he continues to do.

Ashley Standish has been coaching for 13 years. This is her 2nd year at Saddleback. She has coached at Seal Beach VBC, Club H, & Unity VBC. She is currently the Head JV Coach at University hs. Ashley Graduated from Los Al High School in 10' and from Cal State Long Beach in 2015. As a player she has earned several medals and titles including: Sunset League Champions 06'-09', Lakewood Tourn. Champions 06', USA Volleyball HP SOCal 16 Select Team, 07' 16Gahr Tourn. Champions 07' & 09', Dave Mohs Tourn. Champions 09', SCVA Regional Champions 08', Silver at AAU JO’s Beach VB 08', Bronze at JO’s 09', and 2 Silver and 1 Bronze medals in her beach vb career. Being willing to work hard, communicate, bond tightly, and commit to your teammates are among the top priorities in her coaching style.

Jared Britton has been coaching for 8 years with previous experience been Orange Lutheran High School as well as OC Heat, Clava and this is his 3rd year with Saddleback Volleyball Club. He has coached club in every age group from 12's to 17's and enjoys being in the gym with his teams. When Jared isn't coaching, he is a huge Angels and Rams fan and enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

David Grandy is going into his 10th season of coaching volleyball and his 5th season at Saddleback Valley Volleyball Club. Coach Grandy has coached boys at Orange Coast Volleyball Club and assisted both Men’s and Women’s volleyball at Irvine Valley College. While at Irvine Valley College the women’s team went undefeated and won the state championship. Coach Grandy has also coached at Trabuco Hill High School for 3 seasons.

Coach Richard Chiu has been with Saddleback for 4 years and has been coaching club volleyball for 12 years. He also is involved with our VolleyHigh program at saddleback to help develop younger athletes before they transition to club. He enjoys coaching young athletes and seeing them grow and develop their skills. Outside of volleyball he enjoys spending time with his two sons and going to Disneyland and Legoland on his free time.

Coach Kristen (aka Coach Red) played for Saddleback Valley Volleyball Club from 1995-1999 before earning a full ride scholarship to Division 1 Loyola Marymount University. At LMU she achieved awards such as WCC Player of the Week and First Team All Conference. Kristen believes that playing volleyball is not only fun, but it teaches valuable life lessons including discipline, time management, accountability, teamwork, and makes for well rounded individuals. Kristen has coached at Saddleback and Asics Athena Volleyball Club (while living in Oregon) ages 12U-16U and assisted varsity at Tesoro High School for one year in 2003. She loves being a member of the coaching staff at Saddleback and looks forward to each and every season.

Lisa Mariotti has been coaching high school and club volleyball since 1988 after playing for and graduating from Stanford University. The enjoyment and satisfaction she experienced from coaching high school athletes inspired Coach Lisa to become a high school teacher. She currently teaches at El Toro High School. Since 1988, Coach Lisa has coached all ages and levels of girls and boys teams. Together, she and Coach Ralph Rivera have led teams to gold, silver, and bronze national championship finishes. In her free time, Coach Lisa enjoys spending time camping and backpacking with family, and playing with her three dogs Kobe, Magic, and Shaq.

Coach Sam is excited to be coming home to Saddleback. She is a Saddleback Volleyball 2006 alum and played under our club owner Ki (18s) as well as coach Monty(14s). She played Division 1 volleyball as a setter and have had the opportunity to coach at the college, high school, and club levels. Coach Sam loves being able to grow our sport and share her love of the game with the younger generation.

Kayla Castillo has played volleyball since she was 7 years old and is a Saddleback Volleyball Club alumni. After high school, she went on to play indoor and beach volleyball at Saddleback College. She is so excited to help others continue improving their skills and growing their love for volleyball. This is Kayla’s first season coaching and she is so happy to be a part of the Saddleback family again.

Coach Elise is currently an indoor and Beach Volleyball player at Irvine Valley College. Coach Elise and the Irvine Valley Lasers won the 2022 women’s beach volleyball state championship and were the  2022 indoor OEC conference champions. Coach Elise was a 4 year Varsity Volleyball player at Irvington High School (Fremont, Ca) where she received all conference her Junior and Senior year as a Libero. This is Elise’s first year coaching at Saddleback. Coach Elise is currently studying business with an emphasis in marketing. In her off time she enjoys going to the beach, hanging out with friends, and eating sushi. Coach Elise hopes to spread her love for volleyball and her knowledge from all of her past coaches to all her players.
