       2010 Volleyball Festival-Phoenix!!!
    GENERAL INFORMATION
    www.volleyball-festival.com

Volleyball Festival in Phoenix is the largest sporting event for female athletes, featuring approximately 10,000 athletes. The annual Volleyball Festival in Phoenix is the culmination of the Club volleyball season.

This year’s Festival dates are tentatively June 27 – July 3, 2010. SVVC Teams will be tentatively traveling by bus to Phoenix, with buses leaving the SVVC gym at staggered times, Sunday, June 27. Team Chaperones will have more specific information for their teams in the coming months. There will be NO return transportation provided so each parent MUST arrange for their player’s return travel arrangements.

The air-conditioned ASU dorm is located within walking distance of the Phoenix Convention Center. Two players are assigned per room and each room includes its own bathroom/shower. There is ASU security provided 24/7 on the ground floor.

• Each player receives a room key, security pass and meal pass (three meals a day); they are responsible for the following replacement costs of those items as follows:
           $25 replacement meal pass
$45 replacement key or security pass

• SVVC will give each Festival Team Chaperone a percentage of the collected Festival fees to cover additional costs for Festival such as Gatorade, snacks, sister team gifts, Coach gift, etc. Each player needs to bring their own money for personal souvenirs and free-time activities. Players can earn money by selling Festival Raffle Tickets and SVVC Media Guide Ads. Players receive 100% of any money earned through these two programs. Information will be available in the SVVC Office and forms are available at the display tables in the gym.

Typical day at Festival—start with breakfast in the dorm, then the AM Pools get their sack lunch and walk to the Convention Center for their first match. PM Pools will eat lunch before going to the Convention Center. Each Festival Team Chaperone, with parents’ help, will provide snacks and cold beverages during Pool Play. After Pool Play has ended, teams typically shower and go directly to supper. Any extra activities will be team-related—players are NOT allowed to leave with family or friends during Volleyball Festival.

Check-out of the dorm is normally the last day of play for everyone. Players take ALL luggage with them to their final match and will leave directly with parents after their Pool responsibilities are finished. NO PLAYERS LEAVE BEFORE THE ENTIRE TEAM IS ABLE TO LEAVE DUE TO REF’ING, ETC., so please arrange for your player to leave no earlier than late afternoon.

Please remember that SVVC is not able to make travel arrangements for family or friends. If you have any questions, please contact us in the SVVC office, by phone or by email.
